Welcome to Sugam Samaj Sewa Sansthan - a non-profit voluntary social organisation founded in 2002 to provide healthy and hygienic sanitation facility to everybody, But Sugam is not about community toilets only-it's a social revolution, freedom from detestable social customs of discrimination based on caste & creed, end of shameful practice of defecation in open spaces, eradication of the inhuman practice of manual scavenging and liberation of scavengers engaged in this occupation end of spread of contagious diseases and epidemics, boost to non-conventional energy sources, enormous employment opportunities, multiple national awards, presence in many cities, and invitations from various other cities and states to design and develop the sanitation system for respective locations.
The founder of Sugam Samaj Sewa Sansthan Shri Vinod Raghav, is, however, thinking of the ways of attracting young talents to the field of sanitation development as there is a dearth of fresh talent in this field.

A Bit of Background
In India, as many as 50 diseases are caused by lack of proper sanitation affecting over 80% of the population. These include intestinal, parasitic, infectious diarrhea, typhoid and cholera. Further, women have to go for defecation before dawn or after dusk, which implies suffering in the daytime. The school drop-out of female child is also very high, as toilet facility in schools is barely available. However, we cannot imagine what the state of affairs would have been had it not been for incessant efforts of Sugam since 2002.
Sugam samaj with its headquarters locat d in GHAZIABAD, has a network spread across all the major cities in UTTAR PRADESH thus providing a single point access to geographically diverse client establishments and is noted for achieving success in the field of cost-effective sanitation, liberation of scavengers social transformation of society, prevention of environmental pollution and development of non-conventional sources of energy.
PRESENT STATUS
Sugam Sansthan has more than 80 Government Public Toilets in various states in India. Number of Mobile Toilets has also been constructed by sugamsamaj sewa sansthan. Sugam Public Toilets are used by Aprox 8000 users everyday at a nominal pay and use basis for a single use.
Sulabh has also built various toilets for households at in various villages of Uttar Pradesh. Sugam also provides Mobile Toilets van facility at a nominal payment which is sought by large fares and at occasions of public gatherings Besides, many states have sought guidance, consultancy, and services from Sugam. Some of these states are Uttar Pradesh Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, NCR etc.
Sugam, however, is no longer about pubic toilets only. It has adopted a holistic development approach for the underprivileged.
Other Sugam initiatives include public scools and vocational training for scavengers, slum welfare program empowerment of women through education and employment, research and development in sanitation, training for NGOs, and international consultancy for sanitation. Focused and skill enhancing training programs are conducted periodically and it is imperative for all staff members to attend these Training is not compromised and this primary focus on skill enhancement leads to a better service delivery.
Vision, Mission, and Objectives
Sugam is envisioned as an agent of social and cultural change. Inspired by Gandhian philosophy of truthfulness, nonviolence, and altruism, Sugam Samaj Sewa Sansthan believes in the Gandhian principle of trusteeship. Sugam is based on compassion for and
development of fellowmen.
1. To restore human rights and dignity
The liberation of scavengers from the unhealthy and subhuman occupation of manual handling of excreta by converting bucket
privies into Sugam Toilets (pour flush latrine with twin pits for on-site disposal of human waste).

Rehabilitation of the relieved scavengers and their wards in other jobs after training.

Help in social up gradation of scavengers and their promotion as equals in society.

Set up information and employment exchange centers to help scavengers getting employment either in the government or non-governmental organizations.
2. Prevention of environmental pollution and improvement of health hygiene and ecology.

Educate people not to defecate in the open, lanes, bye lanes parks, streets, by the side of roads or railway tracks, etc.

Motivate people to get bucket privies converted into Sugam Toilets and the have toilet facility in houses where none exists
